You need to complete our membership application form and comply with the requirements of the Victorian Firearms Act 1996 eg: provide two character references, not be a prohibited person etc

Handgun Licence

You can apply for a Provisional Handgun Licence once you are a member of a pistol club.  It allows you to shoot at the club and try different handguns.

 

Once you've been a member of a pistol club for 6 months you can apply for a full General Handgun Licence.  You need to have your fingerprints on file with Vic Police, have completed the Safety Course and have safely participated in at least 5 matches.  All the details are on the 

Pistol Ownership

Once you have  handgun licence you can apply to the Vic Police Licensing and Regulation Division for a Permit to Acquire a handgun.

 

In the first 6 months of having a licence you can own an air pistol and either a .22 or centrefire pistol.

 

(You may also own a black powder handgun, but we don't shoot that at Horsham)
