Victoria Police's Licensing & Regulation Division produces a newsletter for licensed firearm dealers, approved handgun clubs and approved collectors clubs. The newsletters provide information on legal changes and emerging issues in the industry which may affect your business, club or leisure activities.

There are usually several editions of each newsletter published every year.

Once you own a handgun there are a minimum number of matches you must participate in to be allowed to keep your handgun.

You must participate in a minimum of 10 matches each year and at least 4 matches for each class of pistol you own.

Details are on the Vic Police website, click the above button for the link.

Handguns must be kept in a locked safe when not in use.  If the safe is less then 150kg it must be secured to the floor or wall.

The key to the safe has to be kept with you, or kept securely in a different room to the safe.

Ammunition has to be kept locked separately to the handguns.

You are responsible to ensure your handgun and ammunition is kept secure when travelling to and from the range.
